Sustainable Timber Tasmania has an important job to do on behalf of all Tasmanians.
Our commercial forestry operations take place on the Permanent Timber Production Zone land set aside by both Houses of the Tasmanian Parliament and consist of :
- Native forest harvesting and reforestation, with a focus on producing high quality saw logs, veneer logs and domestic peeler logs
- Plantation harvesting and establishment
- Road and quarry construction
When undertaking these operations, Sustainable Timber Tasmania does so within the Tasmanian forest practices system in accordance with the Forest Practices Code, which is overseen by an independent statutory body, the Forest Practices Authority.
Sustainable Timber Tasmania has a three tiered planning system at strategic, tactical and operational levels. Our planning and operations and are underpinned by scientific research.
