The Good Neighbour Protocol was launched in May 2019 by Tasmanian forest managers. As forest managers, we are the custodians of Tasmanian forests and manage them as a sustainable, renewable resource.
The Good Neighbour Protocol is an industry initiative to guarantee neighbours of forest growers will be treated with dignity and respect.
The objectives of the protocol include promoting constructive cooperation and exchange of information, establishing positive relationships with neighbours and local communities and proactively managing issues of shared concern, such as fire, weeds, and fences.
Public and private land managers and plantation growers have signed on to the protocol. This includes Sustainable Timber Tasmania, Forico Pty Ltd, SFM Environmental Solutions, Pentarch Forestry, Timberlands Pacific Pty Ltd and PF Olsen Pty Ltd.
